Validate the profile in Act 3, not only the opening area

  1. Finish updates first. Complete the game, Windows, MyASUS, Armoury Crate SE, BIOS, and graphics-driver updates, then restart.
  2. Record the exact Ally. Note Z1 or Z1 Extreme, original Ally or Ally X, BIOS, driver, Armoury Crate version, VRAM allocation, power mode, charger state, resolution, and game patch.
  3. Match ASUS before modifying ASUS. On an original Z1 Extreme Ally, start with 1080p, 25W Turbo, DX11, FSR Quality, and the published controls above.
  4. Use two repeatable routes. Compare a quiet early-game path with the busiest settlement, crowd, or effects-heavy encounter available in your own campaign.
  5. Repeat camera and conversation actions. Walk the same route, rotate at the same landmarks, enter dialogue, open inventory, and complete a representative combat round.
  6. Separate brief hitches from sustained misses. Repeat once before changing settings; first-pass streaming behavior is not always persistent overload.
  7. Change one control at a time. If the busy route misses your chosen cap, lower cloud, shadow, detail distance, or FSR mode one by one rather than selecting an unexplained preset.
  8. Retest after major patches. Keep the photographed baseline and save route so later comparisons use evidence instead of memory.

A cooler 720p or 900p baseline

ASUS's published measurements belong to a 25W, 1080p Z1 Extreme test. If your priority is battery use, lower fan demand, or a steadier cap away from the charger, create a separate profile rather than silently attaching those goals to ASUS's result.

Pick one 16:9 mode, keep FSR Quality first, and rerun the same busy route. Do not call it faster until the repeatable test shows it.

Reduce power last

After the cap is stable, lower the Ally operating mode one step at a time. Stop at the first profile that harms the weakest scene.

Storage, co-op, and dock planning
